Jon,
I guess it depends on what you mean by "Multi-platform". IZPack is
free, open source and a while back I did a cursory test to see if I
could script an installation on the i using a savf file, ftp and CL
(basically what Don proposed). That is my plan for a "universal
installer" for some software I have.
I haven't run into anything that can install a Windows program in
Windows, a Linux Program in Linux, a Mac Program on a Mac and an ILE
program on the i. If you DO find out, post back. That could be a handy
tool. IZPack runs as a client on LUW/Mac and you could script an
install on i. I think you will "script" regardless of the installer.
I am interested in seeing what you turn up.

Don, I know I can build that kind of stuff - but the Client is one of
these wonderful people who are not interested in inventing any wheels
- they want to purchase a professional install tool.

I would think that if you install from a connected PC, you could
easily
install on any platform mentioned. Just FTP to the desired platform
then
submit a job to run. It's fairly easy for both i/os and AIX (or any
eunochs
platform)...
