Assuming you add the correct hardware there is no need for a reload here. Just allocate the current disks to one partition and use the new ones for another partition. That's the simplest and the memory and processor would be allocated as you say. Certainly there are many other ways to move the disk around as well but normally the current disk becomes one of the partitions. You will likely want to swap the console on that partition to HMC but it's not mandatory to do so. The new partition will need to be loaded from tape or DVD and your choice there will depend on if you want to start with clean IBM i or if you want a duplicate of the current partition as a starting point.
