The honkers I have dealt with were 8-10k.

That's because Zebra has everything - from industrial label printers
that have to print 10'000 labels a day, to desktop printers like the
GK420t that are only meant for 100 labels a day.

Luckily, with ZPLII and EPLII, using them is quite easy, as the
language is the same.
