Source is iSeries - target is UniData running on Windows.
FTP would not work as I need to get to the telnet session and run a UniData command. I might be able to set a script to run on the server on a scheduled basis and pipe the output to a file. Then use FTP from the iSeries to get the file. Would prefer to have the either process controlled at the iSeries

It will be secure telnet if I get this doing what I want.

Subject: RE: Scripted iSeries TELNET

What type of system is the source system? PC? i? Something else? Does
"expect" program help?

What type of system is the target system? Does RSH / REXEC help?

Have you tried the FTP QUOTE rcmd command?

In most instances it would be best to use secured solutions such as SSH.

Is there secret way to send scripted commands to TELNET like I can to
FTP? I want to start a telnet session to a windows server, logon, run
a command and send the response to a file in QTEMP to be read and
processed
