You've gotten the usual good replies:
- Pass ANZOBJCVN
- Read the Memo to Users for 6.1
- Read the Memo to Users for 7.1
- Check firmware levels

Do this.

But, in addition, if you are running any canned software from third
parties make sure they "certify" on 7.1. There are a lot of lazy software
vendors out there who take their sweet time testing. Some are all right,
they just want you to get their latest version or patch. I did have a
software package or two that required a patch from the vendor when I went
to 7.1. It's people like me who pave the road for others.
Don't assume big name brands are ok, even IBM. Meaning, check the Domino
compatibility chart.

I have 6 of 10 lpars running 7.1. The remaining 4 are because of Lotus
Sametime compatibility. Of course, one of those 4 is also our main
production lpar and another one is it's HA mate.

Big thing to keep an eye on when upgrading OS is what the default JVM will
be on that release and which JVM's went away.
