If the file does not have any deleted records, then getting the number of
records in the file and positioning the file to that record, should not
fail.

If it does have deleted records, then you will have to run a test to see
what the program does when you position to a deleted record and do a RCVF.
If it does not blow up and just gets you the next non-deleted record, then
you could position the file to the number of records and read till EOF.
Since your program is doing that now anyway, starting at a higher RRN should
put you ahead of the game (unless all the deleted records are in the
beginning of file, in which case you are no worse off).
