To expand Rob's information, Scott Klement has a nice series of articles
about using JDBC against several non IBM i databases. Check for his articles
here:

http://systeminetwork.com/

Some years ago we did a small application with his routines, accessing an
Oracle DB.

To my knowledge run sql scripts does not have that capability.
However, if you use JDBC you can connect to numerous databases. The only
problem is that JDBC is free, it's been used on the i for a decade or so,
and there are several magazine articles with detailed code on how to use
it from RPG.

Is it possible to connect to a non-db4 table in the
'run SQL scripts' interface?

It would be nice to be able to use this to update
other tables from db4 data (and maybe vice versa).

Thanks,
Lance
