You can order the latest software upgrade from ESS. Which I did the other
day. Then I ordered the media and got it sent to me and it arrived very
timely. I was thinking "how cool is that?". Then a coworker tried to get
into PDM on a backup HA lpar and was told to get a new key. I thought no
problem, I just go into the key site. Log in there and all I see now are
7.1 keys. Oh oh. So, before you upgrade to 7.1 make sure that you print
out all your 6.1 keys. Apparently IBM hasn't grasped the concept of
running multiple releases on different lpars on the same box. At least
this part of IBM.
Called my BP. When she found out what I did there was much wailing and
gnashing of teeth. It was suggested that I let them upgrade me in the
future to avoid this sort of issue. She says there's errors with the
upgrade site, especially early on in the process. She'll work diligently
to resolve this but let's just say I didn't make her morning.
