Thank you. I bet this is what happened - I did change the System i
password to finally match, but not until after several tries, and it
must have been disable.

Are the passwords on the network and the iSeries the same?
If not, the iSeries will probably ask if you want to use alternate
credentials. You will see a "2 line" signon box-- with lines for user
and password. You may have to qualify the user with the name if the
iSeries machine (ie mysystem/myprofile - direction of the slashes is up
for grabs; I forget if you need to say //mysystem/myprofile or not).
Might be easier to make sure your passwords match.
If the passwords did NOT match, chances are the network tried to sign on
to the iSeries 3x or more-- and your profile on the iSeries may be
disabled, so you'll have to re-enable it.
