We are no longer using our IXA or IXS (on HA BOX now) and I want to recover the disk space allocated to them,

Can I get it back just be deleting the NWSD's or do I have to go in and delete the linked virtual disks ?
As Pete suggests the NWSSTG objects are what must go to recover disk space. Note that even once deleted the disks will remain busy and the space will come back over several minutes time.
