So why don't you run it all on i. I'm pretty sure Python can run in PASE.--

RE: iSeries Access on Ubuntu Linux
Sorry, no .NET here. I'm a Python guy. I'm currently using CherryPy
(yeah, nice name) for the web server, utilizing the TurboGears web
framework. I just wish I could run the whole thing on the i...

What web server are you using on your windows box? Apache? IIS? What
was the application developed in (language/environment)?
JDBC is supplied by IBM in the Java Toolkit, or via open source JTOpen,
I think. JDBC is a java implementation of ODBC.
We need more information, as it sounds to me like this app was written
in .net, and you may not be able to host this on linux...

That is exactly why I'm looking in to this. I have a web app that needs
access to my DB2 database. The app is currently running on a windows
box but I want to move it to Ubuntu Server. I mentioned 5250 access in
my initial post only because we'd like to start deploying some Ubuntu
clients as well, but they need 5250 access.

Switching to server mode for a second. Where would I find the best ODBC
driver for Ubuntu Linux running a web server and needing to access DB2?

Thanks for the input. I tried tn5250 yesterday but it appeared that
the fonts weren't resizable. I'll give the java version a try today.
In addition to 5250, I would like to be able to use iSeries Access
for the ODBC driver. I've found some other instructions to get that
working, but haven't hit on the magic combination yet. If IBM wants
to keep the i as a viable platform, they're going to have to get with
the program and realize that people are going to want to access it
from other platforms, and they need to make it simple(r).

I have been using tn5250j for years on my Linux desktop. It's a great
program. Until recently (when we retired the device) I have used tn5250
to create a printer device on the i5 to drive an parallel-port attached
envelope printer from a a linux machine.
