Roberto,

This is only an educated guess as I don't use the technique myself.

I know of a few folks that do basically what you want. See http://www.itjungle.com/tfh/tfh082602-story04.html for savsys info.

For step 6, I think that they set the omit option to omit directories that they don't want saved. However, changing the defaults means that they will have to be overridden if you do want to save the xseries' storage.

Perhaps someone else can clarify.

Hi,

I have to do a save from a system (520) which has 2 integrated xseries since
the xseries only run an application that does not need backing up, how can
we backup the entire system i but ignore the xseries' storage ? (not only is
that storage not needed on the backup, it makes the backup a loooot longer)

I dont think there is a way, since Option 21 is a FULL save and that
includes any nwds that i could have...

Well if anyone has an idea regarding this, i'm all ears, otherwise a long
backup session awaits...

Best Regards,

Roberto
