OK, I got this to work going from Linux to bsh running under QShell via
ssh. The trick was to escape the correct single and double quotes to
pass though the various shell parsers.
ssh -T user@my-system "system \" CPYFRMSTMF
FROMSTMF('/home/user/ascii400.txt')
TOMBR('/QSYS.LIB/USER.LIB/MYFILE.FILE/MYFILE.MBR') MBROPT(*REPLACE)\""
So, it looks like the suggested sequence works - at least in my case.
Sorry if I missed part of the thread and this is redundant.
Note that I used CPYFRMSTMF instead of CPYFRMIMPF.

All,
In Q2PTERM shell, I'm trying to do this:
ssh -T phil@ocsys 'system "CPYFRMIMPF
FROMSTMF('/home/phil/xfrdir/cities.db2') TOFILE(QGPL/CITIES)
MBROPT(*REPLACE) RCDDLM(*CRLF)"'
I get this error:
CPD0104: Expression not allowed for parameter FROMSTMF.
The FROMSTMF parameter really needs the single quotes around the
pathname. I do not know how to put a single quote within a
single-quoted string. You might try something like ...
ï ssh -T phil@ocsys "system \"CPYFRMIMPF
TOFILE(QGPL/CITIES) MBROPT(*REPLACE) RCDDLM(*CRLF)\""
It will work if instead I first start ssh, then execute system.
I bet you didn't type quotes around the whole line.
HTH,
Terry.
