How long does it take to transfer until the failure occurs?
Could this be a problem with a firewall causing a timeout on the control
connection after xx minutes (say, 30 minutes or so)?

What Size is the file and how far along is the failure point?

5,529,600 (according to the size of the save file after the aborted
download) out of 12,118,656 bytes.
