You miss my point - not everyone is at the supported releases - that is
a fact, no matter what it SHOULD be in your mind.
So it is NOT helpful to give advice without qualifying it - you do NOT
know where anyone else is. If you give an SQL function that is only
available in 6.1, hey, even the other supported release person can't use it.
This is merely about being considerate and helpful on this list when
giving answers - it is NOT helpful in my opinion to give advice that
people cannot use. How many times has something been answered, only to
have it come back with - I can't find that on my machine - or - I get an
error when I do that.
No qualification does not mean supported releases, to me. This is not
IBM's support site. This is a general list for all users of the AS/400
or iSeries or System i or i - no qualification means that no one can
really be sure what you are talking about.
As to bleeding edge - I did not mean just the OS - Rob is pushing the
edge all the time, or at least is willing to. And that is a good thing.
(Profanity expurgated from your post!)

Sheesh, Rob!! You KNOW what I mean, yet take it to realms unknown. And
you ARE always on the bleeding edge when there is on - you're the first
to get the latest.
V6R1 still isn't bleeding edge. It's the release to be on right now.
It's been out for two years. If you're not on V6R1 by now, you're
neglecting your IT infrastructure.
