I only ask because it sounds like a competitor to Flash, Flash works on my
PS3 not so sure Silverlight does. Hope I don't miss out on any goodies like
internet tv because they are written in Silverlight.

No, Silverlight only works on Browsers that use the Netscape plugin
system, IE and a few Mac & Linux browsers.
