I am looking for an explanation of program messages and MSGTYPE() worded
to be understandable without knowledge of jargon specific to IBM i.
General programming jargon, on the other hand, is welcome. A way to
express the jargon preferences in a google query would be wonderful.
I am asking in the hope that I may be able to contribute something to
the second of the following references. You do not care--the first
reference is trivial, and the second is too long--but this all started
with a small question at openoffice.org

If I can clarify my notions about severity (meaning msgtype() on a
