Hi James

You might want to look into choice programs, which are defined at the
command parameter level.

Its years since I wrote one (primarily as a proof of concept) but it did
allow me to return a list of department codes from a table I maintained
instead of trying to maintain the options in the command definition.

Evan Harris

Subject: "Super prompter" program

Suppose you were tasked with writing a "super prompter" program for a
system command: one that expands on the existing prompt, e.g., where the
existing command asks for the names of one or more fields in a file, the
"super prompter" would allow the user to choose those fields from a list.

How would you approach such an undertaking?
