Hi Dennis
It's the first ",8" - if I try a select on the file using the same where
clause it reports ",1" as being in error.
The exact message is SQL0104 "Token ,8 is not valid. Valid tokens: ) ,."
Thanks
Jonathan

update TVBJREP
set BJOAT2 = substr(BJOAT2,8,8) concat substr(BJOAT2,1,7)
where BJJ4S8 = '0'
and BJJ4S3 = '0'
and substr(BJOAT2,1,7)='TSTDATA'
When I run this on our Development box it finds and updates the records
without a problem. However, when it's run on the Test box it falls
over
with a message that it doesn't like the ",8" in the first substr
function.
What is the exact error message, Jonathan? How about SQLCODE, SQLSTATE?
There are two ",8" in that expression, so the information you provided is
somewhat ambiguous.
