Pete, Brian,
There used to be a Mentoring Program for which first timers could sign up. The FT was partnered with an OT (old-timer). When I was in the program (as an OT), I would arrange to meet the FT before the FT session (some didn't even know there was such a thing; didn't read all of the mail, I guess). Helped some set up their schedule plan, but basically just to answer any questions or concerns; Trevor's good but sometimes the one-on-one helped ease the FT jitters and gave them someone they could ask questions of during the conference. It was, as you may surmise, pretty much played by ear. But I haven't heard much about it the last couple of years.

Mike,
The YIPs are definitely having events at the COMMON conference, and
one of the YIP leaders, Brian May (bmay@xxxxxxxxx) can provide you with
additional information. Make sure that the person you are sending also goes
to the first timer session and social (Trevor Perry does a great job at
telling people the ins and outs of COMMON). In addition, feel free to send
him my email address (without the -ml) and he can ask me any questions that
he has about his time in Orlando. Tell him to attend Ask the Experts and
the iSocial events (Power Down or CUDS) as well to round out his education
experience at COMMON.
Pete

I am sending a relatively new, young developer to his first COMMON
conference. Does anyone know of anything going on in Orlando for YIPs that I
can be sure to direct him to check out? I want to be sure his first COMMON
is a memorable and productive one.
Thanks
