QPFRADJ and *FIXED are sorta and sorta not related.
*FIXED vs *CALC basically if Expert Cache is OFF (*FIXED) or ON (*CALC). My
understanding of Expert Cache a 2nd level or additional caching by the OS.

The QPFRADJ sysval is going to adjust pools Memory size and Max Active value
except in pools have been hardcoded in the SBSD to a specific memory size.
This is where the 'sorta' comes in. Pools/SBSD with a hardcoded memory pool
size show as FIXED. These type pools will not allow you change them to
*CALC.

The WRKSYSSTS paging option on our production system is *FIXED for all 4
memory pools (*MACHINE, *BASE, *INTERACT, *SPOOL). We don't have any
additional pools. I don't remember other machines that I've worked on
having all of them set to *FIXED, it seems like most of them have been
*CALC
except for *MACHINE.

Does this mean that QPFRADJ = 2 is having no effect on my system?

Thanks,

Steve
