I have a VARCHAR(20000) column in one of our tables that contains an RTF
(Rich Text Format) string, meaning the character string contains formatting
control characters interspersed with actual text. We store it this way so
that a Windows VC++ application can maintain the text with the embedded
formatting.
I need to write an extract program which will provide just the text from
this RTF string (with the formatting characters removed). I know that in
VB.net or C++ there are functions that provide a very direct way of
extracting only the text from an RTF string, but this extract program, for
many reasons, needs to execute locally on the iSeries.
Is there an API, etc. that I can call from a batch SQLCBLLE program to
extract only the text from the contents of this column?
Suggestions? TIA
