Embedded SQL is a nifty way to do a REPLACE, too - it handles all the instances of the search string, while RPG's %replace does only the first one it finds. Much simpler with SQL.

just use embedded SQL!

D MyText S 50A Varying inz('Search XYabZXYxxZ XYZ
within a String')
D MySearch S 10A Varying inz('%XY__Z%')

D isFound S N
/Free
Exec SQL Set :isFound = Case When :MyText like :MySearch Then '1'
Else '0' End;
If IsFound;
//String is Found
EndIf;

Wow, so brilliant in its simplicity!
Thanks, Birgitta!
