Boy, did I mess up. V5R4 is, obviously, still available. Old age (bad eyes and fading memory) is my only excuse.

With that revelation (admission) since Jack is already at V5R4, the latest Cume and applicable groups (GO PTF #12) would be my recommendation.

i faced a similar situation when i got to this place. the sys admin was
well over 2 years behind on PTFs. i applied the bare minimum (i.e. not
all) of PTFs required and upgraded to V5R4 and applied the latest CUM,
group and hipers after the upgrade.
