RE: Record by record update with SQL with no matching key.

SELECT rownumber fakerow, firstname firstfake, lastname lastfake
FROM FAKETALE

SELECT rownumber realrow, keyval realkey
From REALTABLE

UPDATE REALTABLE SET firsname = firstfake, lastname = lastfake
Where keyval = realkey and fakerow = realrow

I obviously didn't give this the thought it deserves. I apologize.
Conceptually (at least in my mind) this seems sound, but syntactically it's
childish and broken. My apologies. If nobody else tackles this today, I'll
reply later with my real offering.
