When you say default, does that mean that port 1414 must be used for at least 1 queue?

I believe 1414 is the default MQ listener port. Those others were probably
elected because they're close. You can use whatever port number you want.
ou don't want to use a well known port number. AFAIK, I don't think more
han one queue manager can listen on a single port.

You can tell the listener for the queue manager to listen on any port, we
have one in the 65000 range. As far as sharing, I believe you can not share
a port between 2 queue managers

Subject: MQ Port Sharing?
ello, I've been working w/MQ on our iSeries for several years and it was
unning when I got here and we rarely have issues with it.
I've created a couple of new queue's over the years but I have a question
egarding the ports used for the queue's. We have assigned ports 1417 thru
and
ncluding 1435...are those the port designations that everyone else is
using?
re these port numbers an IBM standard or recommendatin or do I, the
customer,
imply pick a port that's not being used? Of course, our network folks were
nvolved too but noone knows how we arrived on ports 1417 - 1435.
Also, can several queue's share ports? Is that recommended practice?
Thanks, Frank
