Looking for some feedback relative to virtual tape solutions in an iSeries environment. I am talking about external gateway devices that have back-end SAN, not that internal virtual volume thing. These things connect via fiber and pretty much mimic a physical tape library/drive to the OS. My only real constraint is that it integrates with BRMS. Most of my attention has went towards IBM's Protectier, Data Domain, and FalconStor solutions. I am curious if anyone has those, or something like them installed in their environment? What challenges did you face relative to install? If so, what do you think about VTL? Details on cost vs. traditional solutions, performance contrast, and whatever else you think is important would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Brad
