In formal documentation I try to use the term "table," but will frequently in conversation use "file." Either way, it's a database object.

Likewise, some people do a NETSTAT, while others (myself included) do a WRKTCPSTS.

Table, file, NETSTAT, WRKTCPSTS, let's call the whole thing off.
