This is the problem of single i/o slot magazines.
There is no possible way to move 7 cartridges to a single slot.
I worked at a site for a year, and had similar issues till we had the tape pulled daily (it was in a underground bunker).
Hypothetically, you could execute a move each day after brms has put the tape in the i/o slot, to another slot. BRMS will squawk each day(ignore), and then empty the 7 at end of week?
I had several posts on midrange about 2 years ago asking about the TS3100 and BRMS.

Subject: TS3100 and BRMS - incompatible?

We have a TS3100 tape magazine (TAPMLB02) and use BRMS for our backup
systme.

There appear to be some incompatibilities.

1. We move tapes once/week so there are seven tapes to move each time.
When doing a tape movement from location TAPMLB02 to location Vault
BRMS causes the TS3100 to move each tape to the I/O station in TAPMLB02
expecting some human to remove that tape before it tries to move the
next tape to the I/O station. Of course no one is standing around
removing tapes from the tape magazine so the tape movement job fails
with a "can't put a tape in a slot that is full" error message. What we
need is the ability to move tapes without having BRMS trying to eject
them from TAPMLB02. Our workaround is to remove the tapes prior to
running tape movement in which case BRMS moves the tapes and doesn't
complain about the fact that they are not in TAPMLB02.

2. We have had situations where a perfectly eligible tape (TAPMLB02,
expired, available, correct class, etc.) can't be found by BRMS. IBM is
trying to figure out why. The workaround is to vary off/on TAPMLB02
which causes a re-inventory of the tape magazine.

Anyone else?

Jerry
