I would also like to indulge in a little bit of admiration:

This ability to have, at the minimum one tape, to boot, to restore
all SLIC, OS, programs, and data, in VERY FEW STEPS, could be the
most valuable benefit to the i. I know this works, I have had to get my system back from a hardware failure, and this is how we do hardware upgrades.

I have had to deal with lots of different backup strategies, software,
hardware, and I would say that the system of reading and mildly understanding the backup and recovery manual, is much quicker and easier
than lots of other platforms...

The recovery manual will walk you through various conditions; is the
data being restored going on hardware identical to what the save was created on, or are you restoring to a different system.
