If I am not mistaken safenet uses an encryption server on the network so that when you want to encrypt or decrypt you need to send the data to the network encryption server and it performs the encryption and sends it back to the /400. It is an interesting approach, and i assume (but am not sure) that they encrypt the session between the / 400 and the encryption server.

We've done some work with safenet and provided our native /400 encryption capability for their customer before. If you want the encryption to happen on the /400, we can help you with that.

We use Crypto Complete here and we are on V5R4 and we too are very happy
ith their software. It works on the file field level of a file using
riggers.
t is relatively easy to install and setup, support from Linoma is
reat.
t is also reasonably priced compared to other solutions and any fines
ou could be imposed if a breach of your company's sensitive information
ets compromised.
