Almost all IP changes are dynamic. In a nutshell: Add the new address &
route and activate them. At that point both the old & new should work
(assuming there's no network stuff to do like plugging in cables and
whatnot). Open a new 5250 session using the new address. From the iSeries
do a TRCTCPRTE back to your PC to make sure it's using the right next
hop/route. From that session, deactivate the old address. Once you're
satisfied everything is working, delete the old address/route.

I need to change the address of an AS/400 but the only access I have is via
TCP/IP (telnet)
Is is possible to change the address (including the next hop) while I am
logged on and then IPL or does the new address go into effect immediately?
Thanks,
Albert
