Not to be antediluvian about it, but if you want something that will
build an INSERT for you, just use STRSQL. It also builds SELECTs and
UPDATEs and all kinds of other goodies. Lets you pick the fields,
order
them, all that good stuff.

I think Jon wants a tool to build the INSERT statement
*along*with*the*data*. Kind of like an Oracle 'extract' would do ... or IBM
DB2's 'look ... with data' facility (available on all platforms except i, I
believe).

Jon, this may not be much help for you but a billion years ago I worked as
Oracle DBA on a project where we had full integration with AS/400. This was
before the AS/400 UDB days and we had two gateway products for the
integration: Oracle Transparent Gateway and Oracle Gateway/400. I get the
two confused now - it's been too many years ago - but using one of those
tools we did exactly what you're looking for, using Oracle extract. Perhaps
you could get your hands on the product without too much expense. Seems
like a long way 'round, though, huh?

Regards,
Dennis
