Not so crazy.. But how to write records to a iSeries Database from
within that shell script? Then make it wake up an process the
directory

I missed this question before. This is so easy....

db2 "insert into mylib/mytable (col1, col2, col3) values 'value1', 947,
'value3'"

Similarly, data queue support is available on System i QSH, but I'd be more
inclined to go with the standard "sleep ${SECONDS}"
