Thanks for your thoughts. Management decided to go the SAP (Severe A..
Pain)/HP/Oracle route here about four years ago and we went "live" on
July 1st .The "experts" are still trying to integrate data for the
different modules, solve inconsistencies and, at the same time,
scratching their heads about why the system is so slow and crashes so
often...

Sigh... There is always the infocenter. Also, I'm waging a small
"guerrilla" war here for upgrading to V5R4. After that, I'll try to go
the V6R1 route :-)

Maybe an UDF? Also, If you have at least V5R4 you can use recursive
CTEs, so maybe something could be done with that technique (sorry, I'm
afraid that the powers-to-be decided to let our iSeries die with V5R3,
so I can't give you much more insights than those :-( ).
