One thing always to do when you get those error numbers is to put CPE in front of them and DSPMSGD - in this case, DSPMSGD CPD3489 - if it is there, it often has a better clue to what happened.

I'm using the java Runtime to execute a ssh remote command call from iseries. Every so often I'm getting the "Couldn't fork: System callerror
number 3489." error. The ssh sub-system/JobQ that the ssh serverrunning
under is already have max jobs set to *NOMAX.
