The HMC only sees and controls IOPs and IOAs. It doesn't know or care about
disk drives, but just the IOA (Disk Controllers) but not the drives that
hang off the IOA.

Subject: Creating SYSPLAN on HMC
I created a new SYSPLAN on my 9117-MMA running V6R1M0 using HMC V7R3402.
When I view this plan on the HMC it does not show the SAS drives in the
plan (U5886). It does show U5796 & U789D.
Is it normal to not see the SAS drives when building a SYSPLAN from the
HMC?
When I export the SYSPLAN to my desktop and use the System Planning Tool
it expects me to CONVERT the plan. But again it does not reflect the SAS
drives.
My BP says that this is normal, but I would like some feedback from this
list. Your thoughts?
Rogers
