I purchase used iSeries equipment all the time. Just did a memory upgrade and within 4 hours one chip had a predictive failure. IBM replaced it, no questions asked. But third party memory or disk, they will not touch.

Where is the fine line in adding disk and memory and creating a situation
that could possibly void your warranty. Is it that your better off to
contract it with IBM services or take a chance tha something could go wrong
and then rely upon your hardware support contract with IBM in order to solve
a problem if one were to occur.
