He means backup up the replicated copy instead of the source copy, like many
HA sites do.

If you can't rely on the copy at this level then you don't have a HA system.

Interesting concept but I bet the speed of the comm line to that site is a
wee bit slower than a local tape drive.

Backup to tape, then duptap it to virtual tape?
