I'm not sure I will ever understand this Unixese gobbledegook and it seems as if even if I do the commands (at least against the IFS) are so slow running as to be impractical.

This

find -x / -type d | grep -i '/zendcore$'
ran pretty quickly (< 5 seconds) but this:

find -x / -type d | grep -i '/zendcore/htdocs$'

took nearly 4 minutes which seems odd. Anyway - I now know how to limit to a single level down.

Thanks for all the help.

If anyone can suggest a good starting point for learning this gibberish I'd welcome hearing it.
