Hey, I have several of that guy's books. Programming a Personal Computer
(from 1982) describes a system that is powerful enough to support
development of operating systems , compilers, text processing, etc. His
emphasis on simplicity made a very complex subject manageable for me. Got
me into the study of operating system design, way back in the day.
