SELECT KEYCOLUMN, COUNT(*)
JOIN B ON OTHERCOLUMN = KEYCOLUMN
GROUP BY KEYCOLUMN
If you want a count from all records in A regardless whether B has a
match, change JOIN to LEFT OUTER JOIN.
