Some time ago I posted a question here regarding an error when
adding users to the directory, it referred to the QAOKL** files.

Someone gave me an IBM file referring to this, that instructed me
to go around digging in the physical vs logical. My question this
time is: Can I do what the "Fixing QAOK* files in QUSRSYS" via
passthru?
Performing corrective actions against the database file network
for the system directory entries has no impact on DSPT [display
station pass through] so the work on the files can be performed
while signed on to the system with a passthru session.
And second, if we decide we don't have a problem with
re-building the directory, is there a way to re-install
only that part of QUSRSYS? (this is more of a problem
with me not knowing exactly what is stored on QUSRSYS).
The [re]install of QUSRSYS will [attempt to] install any missing
files of that database network. However some improper actions which
might leave the files in an improper state [e.g. improper ownership,
member issue, relations issues, et al.] could cause the install to
fail, such that the best recovery option at that point, would be to
delete all of the QAOK* files and just let the install request [as
recovery] to restore a fresh version of each of those files.
Realize that installing QUSRSYS requires restricted state and only
from the installation menu versus the command line RSTLICPGM.
FWiW if given access to your system, I would be willing to review
the files and [optionally] correct them for you at no cost. I have
had to many times, thus plenty of experience, to recover these and
some other DB file networks in QUSRSYS after improper migrations.
