Hello Chuck,

Thanks a lot - it worked. There were some issues regarding changing the
ownership of some documents, but I could manage that.
Everything works as before.

Re: Deleting entry from the distribution Directory

I infer the SYSNAME() for the DIRE needs to be reset to *LCL
because the directories were restored from when the system had a
different local name.? Normally this would not be an issue, because
changing to a new physical system would have the new system
installed to replace the old system; i.e. keeping the same name [and
serial number]. Only the USRID() portion of the existing directory
entry was provided in the quoted text, so I am not sure of what the
USER() is. Try the following command; specify USER(ED) if the
invocation using USER(*SAME) indicates a user is required:

CHGDIRE USRID(ED FUNAS2) USRD(*SAME) USER(*SAME) SYSNAME(*LCL)

For the above to be generally effective, some old configurations
may be required to remain so notifications & distributions can get
to the local system using the old name. There is a RNMDIRE to
correct that situation, to make the USRID update; from OLDUSRID() to
NEWUSRID(). From WRKDIRE, at least IIRC, there is a method to
schedule the rename, because it must run only after both /QDLS and
SNA/DS features are inactive.

Regards, Chuck

Has anyone tried deleting an active entry from the
directory entries ? We have moved to a new iSeries
system. All the directory entries too were moved.
I thought of changing my directory entry to the new
address (FUNAS2 to QRAAS41).

The entry did not get deleted because there were
some objects still active, I got two options:
C to Cancel & G to change from Local to Remote user.
I gave G. I have been sending spool files through
e-mails for quite some time but now it says that
this facility is not allowed for a remote user.

I have pasted the messages below. Has anyone come
across this before ?
Any help is welcome to solve this problem.

In the message further down there is some mention
about changing the node id for the user, any idea
which command to use to change the node id. Here
is what the message says: 'change the node ID for
user ED to the node ID of this local system in the
local system distribution directory.'.

Change Your Directory Entry

User ID/Address . . . . : ED FUNAS2
Description . . . . . . : Ewart De Souza

Request from ED is not supported for remote users.
Request distribution from ED ended unsuccessfully.
Send distribution request failed.

Message ID . . . . . . : CPD9133 <<SNIP>>
Message . . . . : Request from ED is not supported
for remote users.
Cause . . . . . : Request for user ED who has a remote
system node ID is not supported. The function is reserved
for local users only.
Recovery . . . : Request the function on behalf of a
local user, or have your document administrator change the
node ID for user ED to the node ID of this local system in
the local system distribution directory.
