Keep bearing in mind that a poll on this list is going to be skewed towards the "better practices" side.

IMO, decent journaling is uncommon.

Many see it only as a form of disaster insurance, but reviewing journal entries to see who did what and when can bring a lot of clarity and certainty. The motivation doesn't have to be recovery.

More than once, I've used database journals to locate flaws in procedures and to establish time and event relationships. I suspect that others have done the same.

Far too often, I've had to comment something like "If journaling had been active, then we/you could have determined [whatever]... Too bad it wasn't."
