James,
If they already have some sort of green screen application in place, I
wonder if one of the green screen to browser conversion programs would
work. Two that come to mind are PRESTO from BCD or GENIE from Profound
Logic.
I've never used either one of these products, but the demos and write
ups look pretty good and I imagine that it would be cheaper than buying
a whole new ERP package.

subject: Looking for GUI software for a metal processing shop
Hi everyone,
I have a customer that needs a program that tracks specifications,
testing results, job steps, and procedures for parts that are in a job
(work order). It must be a graphical program as they need to attach
photographs as part of the specifications. They have found a software
vendor who sells software that meets their needs, but it also replaces
everything their AS/400 currently does and they don't want to move off
of the AS/400.
So they are looking for a software package that can fulfill this
"traveler" need and integrates with the System i so that they can
continue to use it for everything else.
Are you aware of any software that meets the above requirements? It
doesn't necessarily have to run on the System i, but it must integrate
with it.
James Rich
if you want to understand why that is, there are many good books on the
design of operating systems. please pass them along to redmond when
you're done reading them :)
