Ersan

Allow me also to welcome you.

As in all other database systems, there are system catalogs on the iSeries. The persons telling you otherwise may not have known this. If you are on a terminal session, you can see the names by running this command -

WRKF SYS*

You will see things that probably look quite familiar. The links and commands others gave you will get you started.

Regards
Vern

Thanks for this warm welcoming.

The thing is I used to work with MS-SQL server and Oracle (Data-Miner) C# (Software devoloper).

When I came here I asked IT department for a favor to provide me with some field names and they told me there is no such table holding the information.

All database systems I worked with hold this information, So I needed expert input.

Thanks to you I am very close to get the information I need.

Thanks alot again.

First, welcome to the lists, and the as/400-iSeries-IBM i world.

What you want depends on the tools you have available. If you have SQL
available to you on i5/os you can run a query against the file QADBIFLD in
library QSYS. It contains the library, file, and field names for all files
on the system. If you are familiar with other SQL compliant database
systems the standard files to query are available as well to get the
information you desire.

Dear All,

I am new in this list as well as in AS400.

I was wondering if there is a way to see all library names, table names and
field names.

What I am trying to do is to get all fields from a table including 'OFR' in
table name covered by any library.

Is that possible.

Thank you.
