I was wanting to record into QHST that a specific file was retrieved from a
remote site. I have SNDPGMMSG in CL programs, and that works. Just thought it
would also work from a script running in QSH. But, that is not the case. Not a
big deal, just would have been nice.

We matched "Where allowed to run". So you haven't been modified (if so,
not differently than me).

So where is SNDMSG message allowed that SNDPGMMSG isn't?
*IMOD, *IREXX, *EXEC, *INTERACT, *BATCH

That's pretty standard for command that are intended to be buried in a
program like SNDPGMMSG is. And what does the PGM in SNDPGMMSG stand for:
Program.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Differences on environments when commands can be run
Sent by:
midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

I had wanted to log when files were retrieved via sFTP on QSYSOPR. As a
visual
noted that specific files were retrieved and processed. I was going to do
that
from within my QSH script. But, things are not quite that easy.

I am curious if anybody would know or be willing to speculate as to why
SNDMSG
is allowed in different environments from SNDPGMMSG. We are on v5r4. I
do not
know if the commands have been modified, either by our application package
(doubtful, as they usually create their own commands), or by the sys
admin.

On this system, SNDMSG is available for:

*IMOD *BMOD *IREXX
*BREXX *BPGM *IPGM
*EXEC *INTERACT *BATCH

And SNDPGMMSG is available for:

*IREXX *BREXX *BPGM
*IPGM

Any thoughts?
