Vern,

Heavens, folks on here still trying to justify RPG as being "up there" in the popular languages
with the #15 spot and that it has topped COBOL. Wow, what a language to top. Oh, well.

How are you guy? Hope your doing well. I know you sent me some pictures of your time here in Casa Grande but did you send all I might be interested in? I'm on under this email address for work purposes now since I left City of Tucson. YEAH!!! Personal email you have still works.

Take care,

Got this resolved. Seems that when I restored the profiles,
the QSECOFR profile got restored with its original user ID
and password.

No biggie there, but now, when I'm trying to vary on
the Ethernet line, I'm getting a CPD27CD with a code of
0000200E: Protocol Conflict between IOA and line description
ETHLINE.

Any ideas. It's been a while since I've had to
rebuild something this old. It's a 170 BTW at V4R3.
I've verified the resource name is correct.

Thanks,

Mark

I have a client with a V4R3 machine that lost a drive. The
system was a vegetable, so I had to rebuild the system. The
problem I have is, since installing the CUM last night, the
system will not except the default QSECOFR password. Even
after resetting it in DST. Is the default system password
QSECOFR at V4R3?

Thanks,

Hey Guys!

Keep Up the Good Work.
We have just decided that we will attend the next Common (that will be the first time ever that we will do).

And please do not turn too negative because of the economic downtime.
Everything becomes cheaper because of it (even the flights to Common, The hotel stay at Common and perhaps even the price for our beer at Common).
So if you have a buck to spend....... Now is the best time to spend it!

Kind regards,
Eduard.

To all those that are being extremely negative about the attendance figures
at the Reno COMMON, please keep in mind that the # of attendees right now
was probably hammered into the ground by the current downturn.? My company
always sends 2-3 people to each COMMON and this year was the first that we
didn't.? In fact, no real travel/education/etc. until things get a bit
better.

I know that there has been an ongoing downward trend, but keep in mind that
right now things are BAD.? I think I read a statistic from the conference
that something like 40% of companies surveyed had put similar education
restrictions in place right now.? I don't think attendance at the Reno
conference can be thought of as anywhere near what it 'normally' might have
been.

RPG is now the 15th most popular language. I guess it dropped to 26th
last month (as I've noted, I don't really keep track) but the surge to
15th is pretty astonishing, at least to me.

Even more astonishing, though, is the fact that since the beginning of

continues to trend upward. Very interesting.

Lets run an analysis of the languages asked about on the midrange listserv and publish a web site showing those statistics. Bet that would show RPG as the #1 language in use today :)

http://stackoverflow.com/tags

I think a site like this is quite biased toward a specific platform, in this case Windows (so .Net, C# are most popular). By looking at these figures you get a good overview of the popularity of tools/languages on the windows platform, but not in general. As more devs post about windows the more windows devs it attracts, etc. These "network effects" are quite strong. I don't think a typical RPG programmer would post questions to this specific site as it is more Windows centric. I believe experts-exchange is less biased. But the typical RPG programmer would first use google to find information, i suppose.
