Well, if you have the jobs broke down by subsystem, you could end that
subsystem.
If the jobs typically wait on a data queue then submit a data queue entry
that they will process as an end.
If the jobs periodically wake up and read a file for changes (lots of that
crap here) then replace them with triggers.
